TQA Kessel Run Automation Shines with 10.1 Cloud Migration Improvements

Published on September 8, 2020

TrustedQA team members are making notable progress with their Infrastructure as Code (IaC) efforts as they have embarked on high-profile projects to automate and improve build processes for several mission-critical Air Force systems. These systems include the Enhanced Geospatial Product Library (EGPL) and the Joint Automated Deep Operations Coordination System (JADOCS).  Using software tools such as Ansible and Powershell, TQA team members are applying best practices to automate the EGPL build.  Also, while working closely with the Air Force JADOCS SME, a group of TQA Engineers were able to successfully deliver an automated JADOCS 'Lights On' solution to the 10.1 Cloud Migration Team.  Next on deck: tasking to build frameworks for priority Missions Apps for the Air Operations Center (AOC) 10.1 Legacy Migration efforts.  Included in these sprints will be Active Directory and SQL 2019 Automation.  The IaC improvements have proven to result in efficient and automated server deployments that are reconfigurable, scalable, safe, and modular, which have been applauded by the Command.  Our ultimate mission will be the automated deployment of all new features to Air Force servers as part of Continuous Integration (CI).

The EGPL is a worldwide distributed US Air Force repository for geospatial products from the NGA and other government sources.  Its purpose is to provide the Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) information needed by the Air Force and other DoD command and control systems.  JADOCS is a command and system tool that helps provide situational awareness at the operational and tactical levels of combat. The system offers real-time tracks, target databases, and service-specific information in a single software application.  Its capabilities have direct application to the Global War on Terror (GWOT) and Homeland Defense initiatives.
